I took cupcakes to daycare yesterday afternoon so Lucy could celebrate her birthday with her friends. It just so happened that it was only the four girls yesterday who were there. Here are some pics from the wild and crazy bash, along with a picture of a class art project the kids did a couple of days ago.

My Birthday!

Lucy has already had a great start to her 2nd birthday. Steve and Nana brought out birthday pancakes first thing this morning, she picked out her own outfit, and thought she was so pretty this morning as she admired herself (especially her ponytail and bow) in the mirror. Nana even helped her to put Dora's hair in a ponytail with a red hairbow as well to match Lucy . . . FYI Nana, she was proudly showing Dora's hair to Ms. Sue when I dropped her off at daycare this morning. Happy Birthday Lucy!!!

HAIR!!!

Just had to add this picture for laughs, this is post-pigtail just before bathtime last night. The hair is so crazy!!! As you can tell, Lucy was not happy about the camera at this point . . . too close to bed time for a happy face!

The next Paula Deen!

Yesterday afternoon after I got home from work, Lucy and I began our cupcake adventure. I am SO not a cook, but I thought I could tackle a few cupcakes for her friends at school on her birthday. I got a lot of help from Little Miss Priss, she put each cupcake paper into the pan for me, helped me mix the batter, and after they were done she helped me put sprinkles on them. While we were waiting on the cupcakes to come out of the oven she said "I, I, I, make you trawberry (strawberry) cake Mommy!" So we had to go to Lucy's kitchen and mix everything together as she baked cake for me, Dora, Barney & the Teletubbies! Here are a few pics of our future Food Network star!
P.S. Notice the hairdo TT, we've got enough curls to do pigtails pretty good now!!!

The Best TOYS in Life Are Free!

Lucy recently found a new favorite toy . . . gravel. While she loves all of her birthday toys and would happily play in her playroom for hours, I push the outdoors on her as often as possible and much to her delight we have a huge pile of gravel sitting next to the family business' work garage right beside our house. She calls it her moutain, and loves to dig, pour, slide and drive her cars through it. A couple nights ago she got the biggest kick out of sitting in Mee Mee and Papa's driveway making little roads for her yellow car to drive on. I'm not much for the feeling of rocks on my rear end, but having a little diaper padding seems to help, because Lucy sat in this same spot for a good 30 minutes playing "rock town" she calls it.

Night Owls!

TT has done it again! Every time she comes home she is bringing a bag of beautiful clothes for Lucy . . . and Liz and Henry as well. She plays whatever games they want to play, takes them to the park, gives them good treats, and pampers them every second she is home. She is the definition of "Cool Aunt Pheobe" (the name she decided she wanted to be called while Liz was still in Lara's womb) This weekend was no exception as she helped with Lucy's party and got her way too many presents . . . but it didn't stop there. When we got home from the party and I was in "the mommy zone" unloading gifts and wondering where I was going to put it all, Beth gave the kids baths and got their pj's on . . . and a few minutes later she had hers on as well. All the girls (Lizzy, Lucy and Beth) were matching in their OWL pajamas. Beth said "this is a blog page" so yes, here it is a blog page dedicated just to "the hoo-ter girls"!!!

Henry got in the picture too!!!

Beth says there was only one adult night gown and she didn't think it was fair for just me or just Lara to have one . . . so she just kept it for herself. Good thinking sis!!!

Party Time!

We made it through the big birthday bash! It was an all out Dora-fest!!! Lucy had a great time, although she was stumbling around at the end trying to talk to TT with her eyes shutting more and more with each word ~ she was completely exhausted!!! The kids jumped like maniacs in the bouncer and had a great time. Lucy wanted her cake right away, but was very good to finish her dinner first before digging into Dora (who looked a little cracked out . . . ha ha. . . see pic of cake above!) And oh my goodness ~ the presents!!! There were SOOO many, it was like Christmas all over again. . . . Cousin Lizzy was a great help, reading each card to Lucy and helping her open each present. . . . THANKS LIZ!

And I'm still a little shocked at how great Lucy was about thanking everyone . . . hugs to each person after she opened their gift, my fave was the hug for Pops (my grandpa). It's just funny when kids open their gifts from Pops. You see for years I though Pops was the greatest gift giver! Always getting just what I wanted, he really knew me well. Little did I know that he was giving the checks to my mom who was buying the present. But I just think it's great as a child to have this idea of your grandpa (in Lucy's case, great grandpa) that he knows just what you like! By the way, he got Lucy two outfits and tons of crafts (aka "craps") stuff. I had to share this story because Ryan later told me that at the party when I was telling everyone that this gift was from Pops, my dad looked at him and said "Well Pops, how did you know to get Dora the Explorer wrapping paper?" and Pops said "I just know these things!" as if he even knew who Dora was!!! Thanks to everyone who helped so much . . . my aunts, mom, and sisters!!! You guys are great!!!

THANKS POPS!

LET THE MADNESS BEGIN!

Gifts, gifts, and more gifts!!!

Happy birthday to you!!!

I'm addicted . . .

So yes, I am a total scrapbook geek . . . I love to do it when I have time (which isn't too often) and I've even gotten others a little hooked on it . . . Mom, Jen ! But I have recently found a new love . . . digital scrapbooking. I know I'm a little behind, and this has been popular for quite some time, but I don't keep up with all the new hip and trendy mommy things out there, so it's all new to me. You have probably noticed my recent addiction on the blog with my new headers I'm constantly working on . . . but here are a couple of my pages just in case you haven't seen them. (click on them to enlarge).

"Hello my name is Katy, and I'm a scrap-aholic"

JUMPING JUNGLE

We're getting ready for the big 2nd Birthday! We've got the Dora cake, the dora cups, dora plates, dora balloons . . . I could go the rest of my life and never see that big-headed character again and i'd by just fine (Ha Ha) . . . but most importantly we have the BOUNCE HOUSE! Or as Lucy likes to call it "my jumpy ting, hoooray!" We got to break it in last night in the yard and Lu-Lu had a ball! She loves this better than anything and we are even excited to see how much fun she has in it at her birthday party with the other kids. Party time!

(An older couple who lives down the road from us babysits a little girl named Adrianna, and she came over for some playtime with Lucy last night as well. )

"We all fall down!"

Lucy: "Whatch me Mommy!"
Mommy: "Slide down on your tail, not your head Lucy!!!!"
(Yes, she really does try to just jump out of the bouncer and down the slide head first!)

"Higher, higher"

Silly faces!

Time for a break and a cool Squeeze-It!!!
Just a little girl time!

SCHOOL DAYS

Here's a picture of Lucy on her way to school yesterday morning. She HAD to have the sunglasses on, she even wore them into school and cried when I made her take them off. She's already such an accessory DIVA!

HOKEY POKEY LUCY!

On our way back over to Momma Jo's Monday evening so she could show Daddy her new moves with Elmo, and get a little ice cream of course. MJ & Pop always have ice cream cones on hand for the Lu-Lu.

Yes that's right folks, she really gets with it while dancing with Elmo, rolling on the floor and everything!

GO LUCY GO!!!

Lucy stays with her Momma Jo 2 days a week. And boy does she love it! This week her new thing at Momma Jo's house is dancing with her Hokey Pokey Elmo. She's had this toy for over a year now, but for some reason she's just now become interested in it. She can do the whole dance . . . she's got her Mommy's moves!!! Here are some pictures of her "gettin jiggy" with Elmo at Momma Jo's house.

Photo Session!

We recently made a trip to Lexington for our 2 year old photo session (even though she won't be 2 til the end of August). Here are few of the photos for everyone to see!

SHOUT OUT: "TT Please Come Home!"

TT- this is a message just for you. Lu-Lu asks for you every day, we've been telling her how TT is coming to see her this weekend and she's so excited!!! She says TT will take her to get a "Fuff-Puppy" (Slush Puppy) and Swiper will try to swipe it but TT will say Swiper No Swiping!!! (Yes I am serious this is a story she created on her own and has told me or Ryan every day since like Monday). This morning I pulled into A & D (home of the world-famous Slush Puppy machine) and Lucy's face lit up and she had the biggest smile on her face as she said "TT in there, I see her . . .. BIG HUG!!!" SOOOO . . . It's Friday . . . hurry home to us this afternoon so Lucy-Kate can get her TT Fix!!! Be careful coming home today, we love you!

P.S. This is really sad, but I don't even have a picture of you and Lucy to put on this blog, so that is on the agenda for this weekend . . . get ready for your close up!!!

Our Masterpiece

Lucy is a big fan of "craps" lately. Yes, I said "Craps" but that is Lucy-Kate's word for crafts, which she decided she loved after attending bible school. So now we have our own "craps" box with paint, markers, paper, foam stickers, pipe cleaners, pom pons, glue, etc. etc. etc.. It's become a great thing the past couple of afternoons when it's been raining cats and dogs and outside play isn't an option. Painting is Lu-Lu's favorite craft. Here are a couple of pics of Lucy-Kate and Daddy finishing our family masterpiece in the kitchen floor.
