I AM THE STAR!!!

Okay, I'm not a stage mom, she was literally the STAR! Last night was our church Christmas play and Lucy was the star of Bethleham. She even had a speaking part, which we tried to drill into her head for 3 weeks, and she would proudly say upon command when we were at home. She would run in front of the Christmas tree and proclaim "I AM THE STAR!". This was always followed by lots of clapping, cheering, and then a big bow from Lucy. Yesterday during rehearsal she said her line so well, even with the microphone that I was sure she'd do great last night . . . not so much. She stood there, staring at the crowd, being so shy. So since I was holding the mic for her, I said the line, and that was that. But she was still so cute!

Here is the star, waiting for her turn back stage. And yes, for those of you who are wondering, she does have on legwarmers! What can I say? I'm a child of the 80's!

Making her way to the stage.

Sorry, not a great shot, but when your the mommy, you have to do all the jobs at the same time: costume maker, mic holder, hair fixer, picture taker.

Lucy and Karis (one of the doves) both give Alex (a sheppard) a big hug. YES, belive it or not there is a little girl between the two of them, poor little thing! Karis and Lucy are biggest huggers I've ever met!

Another hug with Karis, Lucy's hero!

Beautiful Lights!

Mommy with the best Christmas present of all . . . Lucy Kate!

She was proud of the sucker Santa gave her . . . this pic was taken about 30 seconds after the crying Santa fit. HA HA!

Feeding the goats . . .she thought it was really neat that they gave the animal food to her in an ice cream cone.

We took Lucy to see the Christmas lights at Lee's Ford Marina on Saturday night, and it reinforced for us just how fun this Christmas is going to be! She was so excited and wanted to see every display over and over. She sang the 12 days of Christmas as we drove through the parking lot with the light display for each part of the song, she was amazed that we got to actually drive under the reindeer as they jumped over the road, and through the big wreath! She was so cute. We got to go through the petting zoo and see goats, chickens, sheep, camels, and even a real reindeer. Then it was time for a visit to Santa, but no such luck with that. She gladly took the sucker he offered, but quickly began to cry when i tried to put her on his lap. Other than that, it was a great night. She was as equally thrilled with the lights as she was with all the inflatable things like the merry go round and a REAL FROSTY! Here are some pictures from our evening.

Happy Holidays!

Lucy and the Wee Disciples went Christmas caroling Monday morning and then got a visit from Santa and a pizza party. Here are a few pics from the rainy, but fun day.

Sarah's Mommy, Mrs. Amanda made each Wee Disciple their own Christmas hat with their name embroidered on it. THANK YOU MRS. AMANDA!

3 Little Prisses! All three of these girls wore their Christmas outfits that were also made by Ms. Amanda

"Everybody do this just like me!"

"Jingle Bells!"

Lucy was more fascinated by her puppet, than the singing.

WEE Wish You A Merry Christmas!

I know I've blogged before about Lucy joining the playgroup at our church, Wee Disciples. Well for the past couple of weeks the Wee Disciples have been practicing for the big event that will be taking place next Monday: CHRISTMAS CAROLING! Mrs. Connie made them each a song book with 4 Christmas songs in it, and Lucy has had the best time practicing her songs. Her favorite is away in a manger, since she has a new fascination with Baby Jesus. After caroling to some of the elderly people from our church, we will be going back to the church for christmas cookies and a visit from Santa! I'm sure it will be a very exciting day. Here are some pictures from this week's group:

I love this picture!!! She does such a good job, standing there like a big girl holding her song book and singing along!

As you can see in the background, Hannah was not as interested in singing that day!

Lucy made some new friends in the book center this week.

The Many Faces of Lucy-Kate

It seems that with every day, Lucy gets more and more like a big girl. She is not a baby anymore and I have to admit, I am having serious issues coming to terms with that. But one good thing about her growing up is all the personality she has now. She is so full of herself and loves to entertain. Whether it's dancing, singing, or being a litle actress she is always showing off in some way. One of the funniest things I think she does is her faces. She's learned over the last few months how to look sneaky, mad, and silly. Here are some pics I was lucky enough to get of the faces before we left for church on Sunday.

She was very proud of this wild colored dress and her pink shoes too!

Sugar and Spice and Everything . . . MESSY!

Lucy and I spent a big part of our Saturday afternoon baking Christmas cookies and doing Christmas crafts. I'm no great cook, but I managed to make these from scratch and Lucy helped every step of the way! We were both covered in flour from head to toe (literally) by the time we were done, but boy was it fun! She loved making the shapes with the dough and putting on the sprinkles. Believe it or not, those cookies were pretty good. Here are some pics of the future Rachel Ray/Paula Dean! The picture above is one she insisted I take of her with her stocking door hanger we made.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

I will always be a little kid when it comes to Christmas. . . . or at least I hope I will. I get so excited each year and can barely wait until Thanksgiving is over before I start decorating. This year was no different. We've had our tree up for nearly two weeks now, along with several tacky additions to our Christmas familly. Lucy is so fascinated by all the little things, including peices of the village like a carousel, and tea-cup ride. She loves the snow globes, ornaments, and her entire gang of push button friends including a rudolph, 2 bears, abominabal (spelling??) snowman, and a lovely life-size tigger that I could ring someone's neck for getting for her! She gets all her pals going at once and dances around the living room like crazy. And although I've already had several headaches from this, I wouldn't trade it for the world. This is the first year she's started to really feel the magic of Christmas and I am trying to enjoy every moment. More pictures of Lucy with all our Grizwald-ish decorations are sure to follow! For now here are a few from our first few nights of decorating.
