Baby Chicks!

Since my office is next door to and sort of part of a day care we do a lot of kids stuff. One thing we have done for the past two years is hatch baby chicks so that the kids at the day care can see them. This years group just started hatching yesterday so I brought Lucy down to my office to see them. Last year she wasn't real sure about them but this time she loved them! She even held one . . . that is until it moved around in her hand and she freaked out a little. But she still liked them. So here are some pics of us with our baby chick.

P.S. She named it Dorothy.

Family Cook Out

Thanks to my wonderful aunts (and my mom) we had a family cook out Saturday night at my granddad's house. It was great to get the family together for food and fun. I tried to get Lucy's pic with everyone, but you would be amazed at how even your family members look at you like you're a freak when you walk around with a camera attached to your neck saying "okay, smile!" But at least I got a few . . .

Lu and Daddy, marshmallow in hand. . .

Mere and Erica roasting away!

Bonfire fun!

(notice the absence of the smile . . . don't worry, she's starting to come around Luke! I'm amazed she let you get this close ha ha!)

Lucy's version of Cornhole (Sorry Dad, Corn Toss)

We had so much fun . . . can't wait for another family get together!

Mommy's Kitchen is . . .well . . umm . . .a Kitchen.

As I cooked dinner a couple nights ago Lucy wanted me to play with her so badly. Despereate to get dinner started I suggested that she cook with me on her little kitchen. Well the whole 10 feet between the kitchen and play room was just too far away for her so I brought her kitchen to my kitchen and we proceeded to have an all out "Rachel Ray Cooking Queen Party"!!! Here are some pics of my little chef and her assistant . . . AKA Daddy!

Yes to all my family members, Ryan is already sporting all the ARMY GEAR . . . GAG!!!

Just Because My Mommy Thinks I'm Cute

Just some camera time for Mommy to get a few shots of the most adorable little girl in the world . . . or at least on Walnut Hill! HA HA!

Spring has Sprung . . . . Okay Not Really

Lucy got to enjoy some of the great weather yesterday playing on her swingset, riding her trike, and of course, posing for pictures like the priss that she is.

Fashion Statements of a Two Year Old

Need I say more???

Lucy began dance class last semester . . . . and NO - to answer your immediate questions mommies, there is no studio here that takes 2 year olds . . . but there is one person dumb enough to do it . . . me! I teach dance here in the county and I let Lucy come take lessons with my 3 & 4 year old class. She really loves it, most of the time. That is, when she's actually paying attention to dear old mom. She has really gotten into the role of "baby ballerina" as she calls it (in reality it is the Lullaby League dancers in Munchkinland on Wizard of Oz). The other night she demanded that I put on her ballet slippers that are WAY too small for her, and one of my old tutus. She also was excited to be wearing a Dr. Seuss shirt that Aunt Jen made for her in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday. . . . along with her sweater and leggings that actually DID match each other that she had worn that day. All together it was quit an ensemble. She then proceeded to do each and every dance move on the Wizard of Oz. . . . for the 973rd time!

We're Off To See the Wizard!

Thanks to Cousin Lizzy for hooking us up with her Dorothy costume . . . and to Nana for the Ruby Red . . . . crocks! Slippers are on the way soon!

Okay my child is obsessed!!! With the Wizard of Oz! This all began several weeks ago when Nana began auditions for the drama clubs spring production. She brought the movie over to see if Lucy would even like parts of it. Thinking she was a cartoon-aholic I wasn't expecting her to watch more than 5 minutes of it. Oh boy was I wrong. The first time it began to play she sat in my lap, eyes wide, mouth hanging open. . . . it was love at first sight! She has turned everything into her life into oz-like activities. I just can't tell you enough how fascinated she is by the movie. I am usually Auntie Em or the "Scrarcrow" as she says it, and as soon as any visitors walk through our door they become a character. And I'm not talking like for a second she calls you a characters name . . . oh no! You are that character and you will be that character for the rest of the day. You lose your real name and become another identity all together. She has the songs, the dances, the lines even, completely memorized! It's amazing. She isn't one bit freaked out by the wicked witch or the flying monkeys (which still scare me a little).

I know all you super moms out there who strictly limit your child's TV time are shaming me right now . . . but I don't care. Of all the movies for a child to love this is the best. A classic and a childhood right of passage. As much as I may hate to find myself singing "If I only had a brain" lyrics in the shower, I'm still thrilled to see her little imagination come to life each time she watches it or acts it out in the middle of the living room.

Great news! She is in my 3 & 4 year old dance class which means she also gets to be a good witch dancer and a little bear dancer in the drama clubs spring production of WIZARD OF OZ!!! She has come to terms with being a "Baby Ballerina" as she calls it, but she keeps telling me "Mommy next time I gonna be Dorothy!"

Priss With A Purse

Again, a bad picture. My camera battery was going dead so it's a little out of focus, but again, I had to share. Lucy got a little prize from MeMe last weekend . . . a new sundress and a purse to match! She had to put it on right away (please pardon the pants that don't match) and model for everyone. Who knew she was going to love dresses so much all of a sudden? It's going to be a fun summer!

Mommy & Me

Not the best picture of either of us . . . check out the bed heads!!! But I still wanted to share.
